Scotland On Line Support : Using Web Publishing Wizard to Publish your Web Pages

When Web Web Publishing Wizard first opens, you are presented with a screen which lets you know about web publishing wizard. All you have to do on this windows is press the Next button. On this window you have to enter the directory on your hard disk where you have placed your pages.

Once you have selected the directory where you have your web pages you will then be able to click the Next button. On the next window you will have to enter a name for these web pages. Use some descriptive name so that you will be able understand later what you meant it to be.

Click the Next button once you have enter a name for the web server. The next window will ask you what type of connection that you have to use for these web pages.

The correct type of connection is FTP. Only FTP will work. Once you have selected FTP click the Next button. The next window will ask you to enter the URL or internet address for your web pages, that corresponds to the directory, you entered earlier. The directory is also displayed again below.

The next window asks you to enter then name of the ftp server that the pages are to be uploaded to and also the directory they are to be uploaded into. The FTP server is www.portables1.ngfl.gov.uk and the initial directory is your node name (e.g. chrisplank).

You can click the next button after you have entered these details. On the next window click Finish to publish you web pages or Back if you think you have made a mistake.

You will then be asked for the username and password that you have been given for accessing your web space.


You have now published your web site using Web Publishing Wizard.

The next time you use Web Publishing Wizard all you will have to do is enter the directory on your local hard disk and then select the profile for your webspace.
