The 5th of January was     something of a special day. One day after my birthday and the first at my new school. Having spent a long time in an inner- London school this was to be a new experience for me. Dressed in my new school clothes I      entered the building, wondering what my new friends would be like.

The day began with a briefing from the headteacher, nothing unusual except that we had ten days to prepare for a visit from H.R.H Prince of Wales. Not only two weeks into the job and      already mixing with royalty!

Day 2 - The children arrive! Thirty six faces, curious and  expectant, looking up at their teacher. Having had twenty- two in my last class, all Bangali speakers, I felt somewhat out of place. Moving top the south- west was definitely going to be a challenge.

By the end of the first week I had begun to settle in well. Marking was a nightmare - only a week into the job and already a fortnight behind! This class has it's characters and after a few weeks I became expert at  knowing what they used to do with their last teacher.

Half term soon. I still need to sell one house in London and buy another here, re- organise my classroom, update my marking, finish classroom displays, order science stock……………..

Roll on the summer holidays !

Moving to the south- west was definitely going to be a challenge.
