start OfSTED Report

 

During September 1999 we had our second OfSTED inspection. We are very proud of the findings. We have included some of the inspection findings on this page. Ultimately, the whole report will be on the OfSTED website, although this normally takes a few weeks before you can download it.

Teaching
· The consistently good teaching throughout the school is a major factor in the standards that the pupils achieve in both their academic work and in their personal and social development.
· The main strengths of teaching throughout the school are the ability to manage the pupils, the quality of planning for lessons and the teachers' knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum.
· Children with special educational needs benefit from the provision of additional staff who have a positive impact on the rate of those children's progress.

Children
· The children are polite and friendly to visitors and other adults.
· Children of all ages mix together naturally.
· Even the younger children have a genuine curiosity about each other's ideas.
· Older children take their independent research seriously.
· The children have good attitudes to learning and behave well at all times.
· The quality of relationships within the school is excellent. This is a particular strength of the school.
· Throughout the school children reach their potential and attain high levels, either in relation to their prior attainment, or above those expected for their age.

Standards
· English, Maths, Science:-
· The 1999 results are well above average in English and Science and above
average in maths.
· Children's attainment is at least in line with nationally expected levels in all other subjects of the national curriculum.

The School
The school has a very positive ethos. The commitment of all the staff to making this a successful and a happy school is evident. Equality of opportunity is assured for each pupil and the pupils are encouraged and supported in reaching their personal potential. This school is both civilised and happy and all of its members relate well to each other.
