    Curriculum The range and content of subjects taught within school.
    DFEE Department of Education and Employment.
    Key Stage I Defined by the National Curriculum legislation as children in Year I and Year 2 ( age 5 to 7).
    LEA Local Education Authority ( Calderdale Council).
    National Curriculum The part of the curriculum common to all schools and determined by the DFEE.
    SATs Standard Assessment Tests - used to measure children's progress under the NaUonal Curriculum.
    SEN Special Educational Needs These may or may not call for a statutory statement of need. About 20 per cent of children have special needs at some stage in their school career, but only I % require a statement.
